Job description

What you’ll make happen

You’ll lead a clear, consistent service that puts customers and sound judgement first.

  • Lead and develop the team, setting clear expectations and helping people thrive.
  • Own the response to risk, guiding complex cases and making sure customers get the right action at the right time.
  • Raise standards, using case reviews, audits and learning to strengthen practice and meet legal requirements.
  • Turn insight into action, using data and customer feedback to spot trends, set priorities and demonstrate impact.
  • Build confidence across YH, giving colleagues practical advice and training so they know what to look for and how to respond.
  • Strengthen partnerships, building trusted relationships with local authorities, safeguarding teams and other agencies.
  • Keep moving the service forward, leading the Safeguarding Work Plan and keeping policies, guidance and resources relevant and useful.
What you’ll bring

You’ll know safeguarding inside out and be the person others trust when things get complicated. You’ll combine credible leadership with strong partnerships and turn good practice into better outcomes for customers.

We’d love to hear from you if you:
  • Bring strong, current safeguarding expertise, including risk assessment, information sharing, escalation and multi-agency working.
  • Understand domestic abuse and apply relevant law and guidance with empathy and sound judgement.
  • Lead, coach and support colleagues while setting clear standards and accountability.
  • Give clear advice, influence decisions and build trust with customers, colleagues, senior leaders and partners.
  • Turn data, audits and learning into practical service improvements.
  • Communicate clearly, stay organised and thrive when priorities compete.
  • Use technology confidently to work smarter and support better decisions.
  • Share our commitment to inclusion, learning and the YH values.
  • Can work flexibly across Hub, Home and Roam, with a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work.
  • You’ll also need a Certificate in Housing or CIH qualification, or be willing to work towards one.
  • A management or coaching qualification would be a bonus, but it isn’t essential.
