Job summary

Lancashire Constabulary is seeking a Front Counters Assistant to join the Contact Management, West Front Counters Team at Blackpool. The role provides a professional face-to-face service to the public and colleagues, records incidents, and offers guidance using the National Decision Model.

Base location is Blackpool DHQ with regular shifts to Blackpool Town Centre and ad hoc coverage at Kirkham and Fleetwood. Hybrid/Agile working is available depending on role and location.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide first point of contact for victims attending the Police Station.
  • Take reports of emergency and non-emergency incidents at the Front Counter.
  • Record reported crimes in line with NCRS and Force Policies.
  • Create and manage incident logs and alert supervision as needed.
  • Record intelligence and perform relevant enquiries including PNC checks.
  • Handle and store hazardous items safely and manage evidence when required.

Job description

Lancashire Constabulary is looking for a Front Counters Assistant to join the Contact Management, West Front Counters Team at Blackpool.

The purpose of this role is to provide a professional, multifunctional face to face customer service to both the public and Constabulary colleagues and to safeguard the public and victims, record incidents and crimes using the National Decision Model (NDM) and provide appropriate advice.

Within this cluster you will have a base location of the Blackpool DHQ and will be regularly rostered to the other location of Blackpool Town Centre. You will also need to provide ad hoc cover the other locations of Kirkham and Fleetwood in the cluster as required.
Key Responsibilities

This is not a comprehensive list of all the tasks which may be required of the post holder. It is illustrative of the general nature and level of responsibility of the work to be undertaken.

  • To provide a first point of contact for victims of crime attending the Police Station, with a commitment to safeguarding and protecting the public
  • Take reports of emergency and non-emergency incidents reported at the Front Counter.
  • Record reported crimes in line with the National Crime Recording Standards (NCRS) and Lancashire Constabulary Policies using the Connect Quick Crime system
  • Create, grade and manage to appropriate resolution, incident logs in line with National Standards for Incident Recording (NSIR) and Force Policies, alerting supervision of any serious incidents where necessary
  • To record and grade (using 3x5x2 process) intelligence on the Connect System
  • Examine, record and validate details of driving documents, PG10 and Section 165 notices, conducting all relevant enquiries including PNC checks and contacting external agencies to enable Front Counter Assistants to release vehicles back to the owner.
  • To safely handle, store and manage firearms, knives, ammunition, weapons and drugs that are handed in. To book these into Evidence Related Property correctly and to dispose of as required
Skills And Experience
  • Experience of providing customer advice in a busy environment on a wide variety of issues
  • Experience of demonstrating excellent listening, questioning and interpersonal skills, along with good oral communication
  • The ability to prioritise workload and manage deadlines, working on own initiative, with minimal supervision in sometimes high-pressured situations
  • Experience of dealing with people in difficult, sometimes confrontational circumstances
  • Experience of recording, interrogating, inputting and maintaining computerised and manual filing/recording systems
  • Experience of investigating problems and taking appropriate timely action to resolve them
  • Demonstrates a flexible approach to working practices, hours and work location
  • The ability and willingness to travel on Constabulary business, as required.
Vetting And Medical

Please be aware, as a condition of your appointment you must undergo and pass Recruitment Vetting (RV). Please be aware there is a minimum 3 year UK residency requirement for Recruitment vetting and you must be 18 years old at the point of applying. Successful applicants will also be subject to a medical assessment.

The successful candidate will be required to work in accordance with the attached rota.
