Job summary

Lancashire Constabulary is seeking a Front Counters Assistant to join our team across East Division, Blackburn, Accrington and ad hoc cover for Clitheroe.

The role provides a professional, multi functional face-to-face customer service to both the public and Constabulary colleagues and to safeguard the public and victims, record incidents and crimes using the National Decision Model (NDM) and provide appropriate advice.

Qualifications

  • Experience in providing customer advice in a busy environment.
  • Experience of recording, interrogating, inputting and maintaining computerised and manual filing/recording systems.
  • Experience of working in a role requiring safeguarding and public safety awareness.

  • Provide a first point of contact for victims of crime attending the Police Station.
  • Create, grade and manage incident logs in line with NSIR and Force Policies.
  • Record and validate details of driving documents and notices, including enquiries.

Lancashire Constabulary is looking for a Front Counters Assistant to join our team based in East Division, Front Counters Cluster - Blackburn, Blackburn Town Centre, Accrington and ad hoc cover for Clitheroe.

Please note, Front Counters Assistants must have the ability and willingness to travel on Constabulary business, as required.

The purpose of this role is to provide a professional, multi functional face to face customer service to both the public and Constabulary colleagues and to safeguard the public and victims, record incidents and crimes using the National Decision Model (NDM) and provide appropriate advice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take reports of emergency and non-emergency incidents reported at the Front Counter.
  • To provide a first point of contact for victims of crime attending the Police Station, with a commitment to safeguarding and protecting the public.
  • Create, grade and manage to appropriate resolution, incident logs in line with National Standards for Incident Recording (NSIR) and Force Policies, alerting supervision of any serious incidents where necessary.
  • Examine, record and validate details of driving documents, PG10 and Section 165 notices, conducting all relevant enquiries including PNC checks and contacting external agencies to enable Front Counter Assistants to release vehicles back to the owner.
  • To safely handle, store and manage firearms, knives, ammunition, weapons and drugs that are handed in. To book these into Evidence Related Property correctly and to dispose of as required.

Please be aware, as a condition of your appointment you must undergo and pass Recruitment Vetting (RV). Please be aware there is a minimum 3 year UK residency requirement for Recruitment vetting and you must be 18 years old at the point of applying. Successful applicants will also be subject to a medical assessment.

Please note, candidates successful at shortlisting will be required to undertake an assessment as part of the interview process. This will consist of a short role-play exercise to assess candidates' problem-solving ability, communication and their approach to dealing with members of the public in a customer-facing environment.
