Job summary

Karter Thomas Limited in the Brighton area is seeking a Rough Sleepers Support Worker for a 3-month contract. You will provide practical and emotional support to individuals experiencing rough sleeping and homelessness, helping them toward stability and sustainable accommodation.

Qualifications

• Experience working with people experiencing homelessness or rough sleeping.
• Understanding of challenges faced by people experiencing homelessness.
• Experience providing support in housing, care, outreach or community settings.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to manage challenging situations calmly and professionally.
• Good safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries understanding.
• Strong record-keeping and organisational skills.
• Flexible and proactive approach to supporting service users.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical and emotional support to individuals experiencing rough sleeping and homelessness.
• Build trusting, professional relationships with service users in a strengths-based, person-centred way.
• Carry out assessments and develop individual support plans with service users.
• Support individuals to access and sustain suitable accommodation.
• Work with external agencies and partner organisations to access services including health, benefits, substance misuse and mental health support.
• Advocate on behalf of service users and help remove barriers to accessing support.
• Maintain accurate case records and ensure all relevant information is recorded appropriately.
• Manages safeguarding concerns and respond appropriately to risks and incidents.
• Encourage service users to develop independent living skills and work towards longer-term stability.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes.

TheRole
