Job summary

Arriva TrainCare Crewe Depot is seeking a Rolling Stock Maintenance Fitter to join the Light Maintenance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. You will work on modifications, repairs and routine maintenance to ensure vehicles are safe, reliable and available for service.

Join a specialist Delap/Mods team delivering high-quality work to tight timescales while adhering to engineering standards, safety rules and procedures. Strong problem-solving and team collaboration are essential for this role.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in rail vehicle maintenance.
• Understanding of depot operations and rolling stock maintenance environments.
• Experience working on Class 15X DMU fleets.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering principles.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Basic IT skills.
• BTEC Certificate or NVQ Level 3 in Engineering (Rail Traction & Rolling Stock).

Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance and modification work on customer rolling stock to agreed standards and timescales.
• Work as part of the Delap/Mods Team delivering planned modifications, repairs and fault finding.
• Ensure tasks follow engineering standards, procedures and safety requirements.
• Complete worksheets accurately and promptly after task completion.
• Adhere to quality, environmental and company procedures.
• Participate in safety, technical and operational briefings and implement actions.
• Support availability and reliability targets through high-quality workmanship.
• Maintain housekeeping and use of PPE; contribute to a positive safety culture.
• Assist continuous improvement initiatives across the depot.
