Job summary

Arriva TrainCare in Crewe is seeking a Rolling Stock Modifications Team Leader to lead a skilled team in delivering vehicle modification and refurbishment projects at Crewe Depot. The role focuses on safety, quality and timely delivery within a busy maintenance environment.

The successful candidate will have a strong rail engineering background, leadership experience, and the ability to drive continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with VMIs, VOIs and company procedures.

Qualifications

• BTEC Certificate or NVQ Level 3 in Engineering (essential), rail traction & rolling stock preferred.
• Experience managing or supervising engineering teams.
• Understanding of rail vehicle maintenance and depot operations.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Experience with Class 15X DMUs.
• Knowledge of health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate a team of fitters to deliver contracted work safely and efficiently.
• Ensure compliance with VMIs, VOIs and work instructions.
• Maintain safety, quality and production performance across the depot.
• Coordinate with customers and stakeholders to support project delivery.
• Coach and develop team members and drive continuous improvement.
• Support competence assessments and training initiatives.
• Deliver modification and refurbishment programmes under Crewe Depot Manager.
• Promote safe working practices and compliant locations.
