Job summary

Arriva Group in Crewe is seeking a Delap/Mods Fitter to join our Light Maintenance team at Crewe Depot on a 12 month fixed-term contract. You will work on rolling stock modification and maintenance projects, ensuring safety and quality standards.

As part of a specialist Delap/Mods team, you will carry out maintenance, fault finding, and modifications to customer vehicles, following Vehicle Maintenance Instructions and engineering standards while meeting deadlines and ensuring reliability.

Qualifications

• Experience in rail vehicle maintenance and engineering activities.
• Understanding of depot operations and rolling stock maintenance environments.
• Experience working on Class 15X DMU fleets.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering principles.
• Understanding of health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective communication and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• Basic IT skills.
• BTEC NVQ Level 3 qualification in Rail Traction & Rolling Stock.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out maintenance and modification work on customer rolling stock to agreed standards.
• Working as part of a team servicing and modifying vehicles per Vehicle Maintenance Instructions (VMI).
• Diagnosing faults and carrying out corrective actions where required.
• Following safety procedures, documentation, and local instructions at all times.
• Completing worksheets accurately and promptly after task completion.
• Adhering to quality, environmental, and company procedures.
• Participating in briefings and acting on identified actions.
• Supporting rolling stock availability and reliability targets through high-quality workmanship.
• Maintaining excellent housekeeping and using PPE at all times.
