Job summary

RAC seeks a Roadside Technician to perform mechanical roadside repairs, diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support. You will be deployed across local clusters, starting and finishing at home, with a RAC van, fuel card, and diagnostic kit supplied.

Qualified candidates will have NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years' experience, or 5+ years as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic, plus a full UK driving licence (≤6 points).

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent with 2+ years' experience.
• 5+ years' experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic optional alternative.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Perform expert mechanical roadside repair, diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK.
• Deliver quick, confident solutions and reassurance to RAC members.
• Tackle faults such as flat batteries, tyre changes, and complex fault-finding on the roadside.
• Return to base at home and operate with RAC van, fuel card, and diagnostic kit provided.
