Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited is seeking a Roadside Technician (field-based) for a national breakdown company serving a large member base. This permanent full-time role is based in Mayfair with a 40-hour week and opportunities for overtime, bonus schemes and progression.

Salary starts at £36,400 with OTE in excess of £60,000 and potential to earn £70-80k+. Shifts cover 6am–midnight, Monday through Sunday, with overtime paid at x1.5 or a fixed £30 per hour.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 2 or ideally Level 3 in light vehicle maintenance and repair.
• Must have a minimum of 2 years post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles.
• Must have a full UK driving licence with max 6 points, no bans.

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out mechanical and electrical repairs at the roadside, including battery replacements and wheel changes.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and determine repair options.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn’t possible, ensuring member mobility.
• Advise members clearly on next steps, including recovery if needed.
• Work safely and efficiently in varied environments and conditions.

Pay / salary: £36,400 OTE: OTE: In Excess of £60,000, opportunity to earn 70-80k+

Shift and schedule for the Roadside Technician role

40 hours per week between 6am and 12am, Monday to Sunday. Shifts are known 12 months in advance. Flexi overtime at x1.5 and/or optional fixed overtime at £30 per hour. All hours start and stop from home as soon as you start the van.

What youll need to be considered for the Roadside Technician role

• Must have a minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or ideally a Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Must have a minimum of 2 years post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles, either in a workshop or a mobile vehicle role.
• A customer-focused approach.
• Must have a full UK driving licence max 6 points, no bans.
