Job summary

Octane Recruitment seeks a Roadside Technician (Field based) to provide roadside assistance for a national breakdown company. The role is based in Cheltenham with a 40-hour week and shifts between 6am and 12pm, including weekend work.

You will diagnose faults at the roadside, perform mechanical and electrical repairs, advise members on next steps, and work from a van. A Level 2/3 in light vehicle maintenance is required, plus 2 years post-qualification experience and a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair, ideally level 3.
• Minimum 2 years post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out mechanical and electrical roadside repairs (battery replacements, wheel changes, minor engine fixes).
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and determine repair options.
• Provide temporary solutions to maintain member mobility and advise on next steps.

Job description

Roadside Technician (Field based) providing roadside assistance for a national breakdown company with over 15 million members. Great salary, benefits, overtime and bonus opportunities.

Location: Cheltenham

Pay / salary: £36,400 OTE: Up to £61,000

Shift and schedule for the Roadside Technician role

40 hours per week between 6am and 12pm, Monday to Sunday. Shifts known 4 months in advance. Flexi and / or optional fixed overtime at £30 per hour. All hours start and stop from home, as soon as you start the van.

Job Responsibilities for the Roadside Technician role

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess vehicle faults quickly and accurately.

• Advise members clearly on next steps, including recovery if needed.
• Work safely and efficiently in varied environments and conditions.

What youll need to a be considered for the Roadside Technician role

• Must have a minimum of Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair or ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent)
• Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands on experience with vehicles. Either in a workshop or mobile vehicle type role.
