Job summary

Octane Recruitment Ltd is recruiting for a Roadside Technician (field-based) to provide roadside assistance for a national breakdown company. The role offers 40 hours per week, with shifts from early morning, scheduled four months in advance and overtime opportunities.

You will attend breakdowns, perform quick diagnostics, and carry out repairs at the roadside to keep members mobile, with a strong emphasis on safety and efficiency in varied conditions.

Qualifications

• Level 2 or 3 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair.
• Minimum 2 years post-qualification hands-on vehicle experience.
• Customer-focused approach; full UK driving licence (max 6 points).

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out mechanical and electrical roadside repairs (battery changes, wheel changes, minor engine fixes).
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and determine repair options.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn't possible to keep members mobile.
• Advise members on next steps, including recovery if needed.
• Work safely and efficiently in varied environments and conditions.

Job description

Roadside Technician (Field based) providing roadside assistance for a national breakdown company with over 15 million members. Great salary, benefits, overtime and bonus opportunities.

Shift and schedule for the Roadside Technician role

40 hours per week between 6am and 12pm, Monday to Sunday. Shifts known 4 months in advance. Flexi overtime at x1.5 and / or optional fixed overtime at £30 per hour. All hours start and stop from home, as soon as you start the van.

What you’ll need to a be considered for the Roadside Technician role

• Must have a minimum of Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair or ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent)
• Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands on experience with vehicles. Either in a workshop or mobile vehicle type role.
