Job summary

Herefordshire Council is seeking a Road Safety and Traffic Engineer to join the Highways and Public Realm team. The role provides technical advice and leads on Traffic Regulation Orders, with a focus on safe, efficient highways across Herefordshire.

This 18-month fixed-term contract offers 37 hours per week, a competitive salary £37,563–£42,123, and a contributory LGPS pension. You will work with officers, developers and stakeholders to deliver measurable improvements for residents and visitors.

Qualifications

• Educated to HNC/HND (Level 4) or equivalent.
• Experience in Road Safety & Traffic Management roles.
• Experience delivering Road Safety schemes including TROs.
• Ability to develop, manage and monitor large schedules of work and procedures.
• Accurate designs using AutoCAD, GIS and MapInfo.
• Ability to write reports and present information clearly.
• Positive, proactive approach.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical advice to officers, councillors, developers and partners.
• Develop, implement and review Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs).
• Design and deliver road safety and traffic management initiatives.
• Manage large, complex schedules and projects to completion.
• Prepare clear reports for the public and stakeholders.
