Job summary

Herefordshire Council is seeking a Road Safety and Traffic Engineer to join the Highways and Public Realm team in Herefordshire. The role involves providing technical advice to officers and stakeholders, developing traffic management schemes and TROs, and delivering road safety initiatives across the county.

You will work within a skilled team to design and deliver projects, contributing to a safer, more efficient highway network while aligning with local priorities and value for money.

Qualifications

• Educated to HNC/HND (Level 4) or equivalent.
• Experience in Road Safety and Traffic Management roles.
• Delivery of Road Safety/Traffic Management schemes including TROs.
• Experience developing/managing large schedules of work and procedures.
• Accurate designs using AutoCAD, GIS and MapInfo.
• Ability to write detailed reports and present information clearly to the public.
• Positive, professional approach with a can-do attitude.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical advice to officers, councillors, developers and partners.
• Help shape how the highway network operates and develop TROs.
• Design and deliver road safety and traffic management initiatives.
• Manage projects from identification to completion and evaluate outcomes.
• Contribute to safe, efficient movement of all road users and value for infrastructure.
