Baptist Health Princeton Hospital
Administers patient care in an inpatient or observation setting where acute care patients receive active treatment for injuries, illnesses, medical conditions, or post-intervention assessments.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Assess patient needs and develop/revise individualized care plans based on patient responses and progress towards expected outcomes.
- Respect diversity by building respectful relationships with team members and patients.
- Act as a patient and family advocate.
- Provide age-appropriate care, demonstrating necessary knowledge and skills.
- Serve as preceptor, charge nurse, educator, or nurse clinician as needed.
- Collaborate with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams for effective care planning and management.
- Model professional behavior and support hospital and nursing goals.
- Understand growth and development principles, assess patient data, and interpret information to meet age-specific needs.
- Coordinate care and delegate tasks appropriately to team members.
- Document patient care accurately, including assessments, education, medications, treatments, and safety measures.
- Demonstrate competency in nursing skills and equipment use.
- Prioritize patient care following Evidence-Based Practice Standards.
- Identify and resolve problems effectively.
- Delegate tasks based on patient needs and team member capabilities.
- Communicate patient condition and unit concerns to team members.
- Provide compassionate, therapeutic environment for patients and families.
- Be aware of legal issues and patients’ rights.
- Support onboarding and training of new staff and students.
- Maintain regular attendance per policies and standards.
- Ensure compliance with all organizational policies and procedures.

- Provide patient care within the virtual hospital setting, utilizing TeleHealth technology for assessments and interventions, including virtual patient visits, symptom evaluation, and escalation of care.
- Collaborate with in-home clinical teams to support patient needs.
- Demonstrate age-appropriate care skills in virtual and in-home settings.
- Travel to patient homes as part of hospital-at-home services, delivering care, equipment, and medications as needed, excluding controlled substances and chemotherapy drugs.
Qualifications
Education/Training
- Graduate of an approved nursing school.
- Meet all competency requirements for Orlando Health and specific department.
Licensure/Certification
- Current Alabama RN license or valid multistate license.
- Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
- ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC required for specific units; NRP for NICU.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for in-home care.
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience, or as approved by leadership.
- At least 2 years of acute care nursing experience for Hospital Care at Home roles.
