Baptist Health Princeton Hospital
Administers patient care in an inpatient or observation setting where acute care patients receive active treatment for injuries, illnesses, medical conditions, or post-intervention assessments.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Assess patient needs and develop/revise individualized care plans based on patient responses, evaluating progress towards expected outcomes.
- Respect diversity by building respectful relationships with team members and patients.
- Act as a patient and family advocate.
- Provide age-appropriate care, demonstrating necessary knowledge and skills.
- Serve as a preceptor, charge nurse, educator, or nurse clinician.
- Collaborate with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams to plan and manage patient care.
- Model professional behavior and support hospital and nursing goals.
- Apply principles of growth and development, assessing patient data to identify needs based on age-specific requirements.
- Coordinate and delegate care tasks appropriately within the team.
- Document patient care accurately, including assessments, education, medication administration, treatments, and safety measures.
- Demonstrate competency in nursing skills and equipment use.
- Prioritize patient care based on evidence-based standards.
- Identify and resolve problems effectively.
- Delegate tasks considering patient needs and team member capabilities.
- Communicate patient conditions and concerns clearly to the team.
- Provide compassionate, therapeutic care environment.
- Maintain awareness of legal issues and patient rights.
- Support new staff and students through collaboration with education and leadership teams.
- Maintain regular attendance per policies and legal standards.
- Ensure compliance with all hospital policies and procedures.

- Provide patient care within the virtual hospital setting, assessing needs via TeleHealth technology, and developing care plans accordingly.
- Conduct virtual visits, assess symptoms, and escalate care as needed.
- Collaborate with in-home clinical/support staff to support patient needs.
- Address age-specific patient needs and urgent/emergent situations.
- Work autonomously and productively in the hospital-at-home environment.
- Use in-home virtual technology for patient assessments and care delivery.
- Transport and deliver items, equipment, and medications as requested, excluding controlled substances and IV chemotherapy drugs.
Qualifications
Education/Training
- Graduate of an approved nursing school.
- Meet all competency requirements for Orlando Health and specific department.
Licensure/Certification
- Current Alabama RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license.
- Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
- ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC required for certain units; NRP for NICU.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for home care duties.
Experience
- Minimum 1 year nursing experience unless approved otherwise.
- At least 2 years of acute care nursing experience for Hospital Care at Home roles.
