Job summary

Altrad are seeking an experienced Rigger to join the Hinkley Point C project in Bridgwater, Somerset. The role operates on a 10/4 shift pattern with 10- to 15-hour days, paid under ECSA agreements.

Lodge and travel are provided where applicable, with overtime rates for non-working days and overtime after the first full week. Pay rate is £29.34 basic per hour with site safety, discipline processes, and continuous improvement in focus.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Apprenticeship and related mechanical/maintenance qualifications are required.
• Experience with mechanical fitting, plant maintenance and engineering construction systems.
• ACE Card and recognized safety qualifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure work is carried out in the most productive and cost-effective manner.
• Maintain health and safety, environmental performance and industrial relations standards.
• Communicate effectively with trade teams and supervise team members.
• Study drawings and specifications to determine sequence and method of operations.
• Dismantle, repair and reassemble plant and machinery as required.
• Test plant/machinery and adjust for correct functioning.

About The Role

Altrad are currently looking for an experienced Rigger to join the team at Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater, Somerset, United Kingdom for the upcoming project.

This role will involve working 10:15-hour shifts on a 10/4 shift pattern, with start date to be confirmed. The position is paid under ECSA agreements, with lodge and travel paid where applicable. Pay rate: £29.34 basic/h. Possible opportunity to work on a non-working day at OT rates. Overtime will not come into effect until your first full working week.

Key Accountabilities:

• Ensure that the work is carried out in the most productive and cost-effective manner
• Ensure site / plant priorities are addressed in a timely manner
• Maintain the highest standards of Health and Safety, Environmental Performance and Industrial Relations
• Ensure good 360-degree communications with trade teams
• Ensure performance and competency issues are highlighted / addressed
• Assist with the application of the disciplinary process as required
• Ensure development issues highlighted
• Ensure individual pro-activity within team members
• Generate and maintain a culture of Continuous Improvement within team members
• Supervise team members in an effective and professional manner
• Ensure adherence to company / site procedures, work processes, drawings / specifications and work order requirements
• Ensure compliance to appropriate BS and EN standards
• Support company / site initiatives as required
• To ascertain job requirements from drawings and/or other specifications.
• To examine faulty plant or machinery and to ascertain nature and location of defects.
• To study plant or machinery drawings, technical manuals or other specifications.
• To determine sequence and method of required operations.
• To dismantle plant or machinery and remove damaged or worn parts.
• To repair defective parts, obtain replacement parts or prepare new parts using hand and machine tools.
• To fit and assemble parts to rebuild plant or machinery.
• To test plant or machinery for correct functioning and make necessary adjustments.
