Job summary

Altrad seeks an experienced Piping Engineer to support discipline construction activities on the MEH Alliance programme in Bridgwater. You will work with Construction Engineers, SMEs and project stakeholders to deliver robust piping work packs while ensuring documentation compliance and a strong HS&E culture.

The role requires a relevant degree, professional accreditation, BPSS or higher security clearance, CCNSG Safety Passport, IOSH/NEBOSH, and nuclear project experience in a JV environment.

Qualifications

About The Role

Altrad are seeking an experienced and technically capable Piping Engineer to support the delivery of discipline‑specific construction activities within the MEH Alliance programme.

This role will be based in Bridgwater and will provide engineering and construction support across the MEH programme, working closely with Construction Engineers, Works Coordination Leads, SMEs, Area Managers and other project stakeholders. You will be responsible for supporting the delivery of construction work packs, ensuring documentation is compliant and up to date, facilitating construction activities and promoting a strong HSE and nuclear safety culture throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Deliverables / Accountabilities:

• Delegate responsibilities to Construction Engineers and Works Coordination Leads, leading, managing and motivating the team through the implementation of best practice.
• Take accountability for the delivery of discipline‑specific Construction Work Pack scopes to support MEH construction activities.
• Liaise with relevant SMEs, Area Managers and project counterparts to coordinate effective delivery.
• Ensure all construction documentation complies with the latest Works Information and relevant MEH documentation.
• Ensure documentation is maintained, kept up to date and formally reviewed at least every six months.
• Take ownership of deliverables from conception through to A-Accepted status, targeting greater than 90% first-time acceptance.
• Prioritise and manage documentation required to enable construction works in accordance with the Level 4 programme, including ensuring documentation is accepted at least three months prior to planned works where required.
• Support continuous improvement programmes to improve construction processes and procedures.
• Report directly to the Building Manager or nominated deputy.
• Provide visible and positive HSE leadership, supporting a strong and compliant HS&E culture throughout the construction lifecycle of the project.
• Ensure compliance with nuclear safety requirements and applicable site licence conditions.
• Review and provide feedback on the suitability of resource levels required to effectively operate the support function.
• Deliver Construction Work Packs to support the MEH Alliance programme.
• Enable effective use of the Procon system to support construction activities and progress reporting across the MEH Alliance.
• Support the requesting and compliance of MEH Alliance activities with the Work Authorisation and Permit systems operated by NNB.
• Enable the coordination of safe access routes to workfaces to support MEH construction activities.
• Coordinate and facilitate topographical and other surveying requirements necessary to support MEH construction works.
• Work collaboratively with engineering, construction and project teams to identify and resolve issues affecting delivery.

Key Requirements / Qualifications:

• Degree qualification or equivalent.
• Relevant professional accreditation in Project Management, Construction or Engineering.
• Ability to achieve BPSS or higher security clearance.
• CCNSG Safety Passport.
• IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH.
• Proven track record within the nuclear power sector is preferred.
• Experience working on major construction or engineering projects.
• Experience operating and delivering at Engineer or Senior Engineer level.
• Experience working within Joint Venture environments is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of construction work packs, engineering documentation and workface requirements.
• Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary and highly regulated construction environment.
