Job summary

Altrad are seeking an experienced and technically capable HVAC Engineer to support the delivery of HVAC construction activities within the Balance of Plant (BOP) scope on the HPC project. This permanent role is based at Hinkley Point C and involves managing an allocated BOP area as part of a multidisciplinary project team.

You will ensure safe and timely delivery, maintain quality and safety standards, produce engineering deliverables and manage configuration control throughout the project

Qualifications

• Degree in Construction, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (required).
• HND/HNC in Construction, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering desirable.
• CCNSG or HSE MaPS Safety Passport.
• BPSS or higher security clearance achievable.
• NEC ECC contracts knowledge desirable.
• Experience delivering large-scale construction/engineering projects.
• Nuclear/heavy industry experience beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Provide HSE leadership and ensure compliant safety culture on site.
• Manage an allocated BOP area within the HPC project lifetime.
• Support safe, timely delivery of HVAC scope of works.
• Produce and accept required engineering deliverables and maintain configuration control.
• Raise and manage Technical Queries and provide progress updates.

About The Role

Altrad are seeking an experienced and technically capable HVAC Engineer to support the delivery of HVAC construction activities within the Balance of Plant (BOP) scope on the HPC project.

This role will be based at Hinkley Point C on a permanent basis and will be responsible for managing an allocated area within the BOP as part of a multidisciplinary project team. You will support the safe and timely delivery of construction activities, ensuring the required quality and safety standards are maintained, appropriate engineering deliverables are produced and configuration control is effectively managed throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Deliverables / Accountabilities:

• Provide visible and positive HSE leadership, promoting a strong and compliant HS&E culture throughout the construction lifecycle.
• Ensure all site activities are undertaken safely, responsibly and in accordance with the CDM Regulations.
• Manage an allocated area within the Balance of Plant (BOP) on the HPC project.
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to support the safe delivery of the allocated area on time, to the required quality and to the highest safety standards.
• Support the BOP Building Leads in delivering the required HVAC scope of works.
• Ensure all required engineering and construction deliverables are produced and accepted in a timely manner to prevent delays to construction activities.
• Maintain effective configuration control across the relevant scope and Works Information.
• Monitor compliance with applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards and project specifications.
• Raise and manage Technical Queries, monitoring progress and supporting timely resolution.
• Provide regular progress updates, including a weekly report against the programme.
• Carry out productivity reviews and support effective control of labour hours.
• Develop and implement construction method improvement plans to enhance delivery, efficiency and productivity.
• Lead and foster a positive Nuclear Safety Culture across the project team and construction activities.
• Work closely with engineering, construction, planning, quality and other project stakeholders to identify and resolve issues affecting delivery.
• Support the identification of risks, constraints and opportunities within the allocated area and contribute to effective mitigation and continuous improvement.

Key Requirements / Qualifications:

• Relevant degree in Construction, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
• HND/HNC in Construction, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering is desirable.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience working in a major project engineering or construction role.
• CCNSG or HSE MaPS Safety Passport.
• Capable of obtaining BPSS or higher security clearance.
• Relevant professional accreditation is preferred.
• Knowledge of Navisworks is desirable.
• Knowledge of NEC ECC contracts is desirable.
• Proven experience of safely delivering large-scale construction or engineering projects.
• Experience within the heavy industry or nuclear sectors is beneficial.
• Experience working within a Joint Venture or Alliance environment is advantageous.
• Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex technical and project-related topics.
• Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary and highly regulated environment.
