Altrad are seeking an experienced Building Construction Manager to coordinate MEH disciplines at Hinkley Point C, Somerset, on a permanent basis. You will lead site teams, ensure workfaces are ready, manage interfaces and deliver to the construction programme while upholding safety, quality and productivity.

The role requires strong leadership, collaboration with engineering and planning, and a proven ability to drive schedule adherence and practical delivery in a large-scale nuclear project.

Qualifications

• Degree or HNC/HND within MEH discipline.
• SMSTS or CCNSG Safety Passport.
• CSCS Manager and Professional Black Card (or willingness to achieve).
• Experience coordinating multi-discipline MEH installation activities.
• Experience managing interfaces to prevent clashes, delays and rework.
• Strong understanding of workface readiness and prerequisite coordination.
• Experience managing materials within live construction environments.

About The Role

Altrad are seeking an experienced and capable Building Construction Manager to coordinate, control and direct MEH discipline teams within a defined area or building on Hinkley Point C.

This role will be based at Hinkley Point C on a permanent basis and will be responsible for ensuring Mechanical, Electrical and HVAC installation activities are effectively coordinated, sequenced and delivered in accordance with the construction programme. You will provide strong site-based leadership, ensuring workfaces are ready for installation, materials are effectively controlled, interfaces are managed and the highest standards of health, safety, quality and productivity are maintained.

Key Deliverables / Accountabilities:

• Direct and coordinate all MEH discipline teams, including Mechanical, Electrical and HVAC, within the assigned area or building.
• Ensure all works are aligned to a single, coordinated plan, including the PLOW.
• Control interfaces between disciplines to prevent clashes, delays, disruption and rework.
• Ensure all MEH disciplines operate to a single, aligned PLOW.
• Ensure installation activities are delivered in the correct sequence and planned week.
• Drive a high level of PLOW adherence across the assigned area.
• Reduce out-of-sequence installation and unplanned activities.
• Ensure workfaces are consistently available, unobstructed and ready for installation.
• Coordinate and ensure workface prerequisites are closed ahead of planned installation activities.
• Ensure materials are correctly located and sequenced to support installation activities.
• Maintain a controlled material environment, minimising unnecessary congestion within rooms and work areas.
• Reduce rehandling and double handling of materials through effective planning and coordination.
• Ensure effective utilisation of site resources, with Riggers focused on lifting and positioning activities, Material Controllers focused on tracking and control, and HSO/labour support utilised for movement and housekeeping.
• Maintain clear responsibilities across site resources and minimise unnecessary role crossover.
• Maintain consistent housekeeping standards across all workfaces.
• Ensure clear and safe access routes are maintained throughout the assigned area.
• Identify constraints and potential blockers at an early stage and drive their timely resolution.
• Reduce blockers impacting planned installation activities and overall programme delivery.
• Ensure all works are executed safely and in accordance with project procedures and requirements.
• Drive right-first-time installation performance and compliance with quality requirements.
• Monitor installation productivity and progress across the assigned area.
• Improve output through effective coordination, sequencing and resource utilisation.
• Provide effective site-based leadership to ensure teams remain aligned with programme, safety, quality and delivery objectives.
• Work collaboratively with Building Leads, discipline leads, engineering, planning, quality and other project stakeholders to support coordinated delivery.

Key Requirements / Qualifications:

• Degree or HNC/HND qualification, ideally within an MEH discipline.
• SMSTS or CCNSG Safety Passport.
• CSCS Manager and Professional Black Card, or willingness to achieve this qualification.
• Proven experience coordinating multi-discipline MEH installation activities within a defined area or building.
• Proven ability to control construction activities in line with programme and sequence requirements, including PLOW or an equivalent planning system.
• Experience managing interfaces between multiple disciplines to prevent clashes, delays and rework.
• Strong understanding of workface readiness and prerequisite coordination.
• Experience managing materials within live construction environments and controlling material flow.
• Proven ability to drive schedule adherence and planned installation performance.
• Experience leading site-based teams and ensuring effective utilisation of resources.
• Experience working on large-scale and complex construction or infrastructure projects.
• Experience within the nuclear or similarly highly regulated sectors is beneficial.
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, workface planning and delivery coordination.
• Strong focus on health and safety, quality and compliance within a controlled construction environment.
• Excellent communication, coordination and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple disciplines and stakeholders effectively.
