Job summary

Altrad is seeking an experienced Mechanical Construction Planner to support MEH Alliance on Hinkley Point C, developing Level 5 schedules and four-week lookaheads to ensure readiness and alignment with milestones.

You will coordinate with engineering, materials, access, and commissioning teams to integrate requirements, track progress, and provide evidence-based updates, enabling safe and predictable delivery in a highly regulated environment.

Qualifications

• HNC in any engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience within a construction planning environment.
• Proven experience developing and maintaining construction schedules, ideally within a large-scale engineering or construction project.
• Good understanding of construction sequencing, progress measurement and quantity tracking.
• Ability to integrate engineering, materials, access, resources, quality and commissioning requirements into construction plans.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify constraints and programme risks.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with construction, engineering, project controls and delivery teams.
• Ability to work accurately to deadlines within a complex and highly regulated construction environment.
• Previous experience within the nuclear, heavy industry or major infrastructure sectors would be advantageous.
• Strong commitment to health, safety, quality and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed mechanical Level 5 construction schedules.
• Prepare, maintain and update mechanical four-week lookahead plans.
• Ensure mechanical schedules are aligned with the overall 16-week lookahead and key programme milestones.
• Establish activity-level progress and quantity measurement requirements.
• Measure construction progress and track installed quantities against planned outputs.
• Provide accurate, evidence-based schedule progress updates.
• Integrate engineering, materials, access, resources, quality and commissioning requirements into construction planning activities.
• Confirm activity readiness with construction and delivery teams.
• Identify construction constraints, risks and potential programme impacts, escalating issues where appropriate.
• Provide clear visibility of construction readiness, productivity and schedule performance to support safe and predictable delivery.
• Work collaboratively with the MEH Planning and Project Control teams to support overall programme delivery.
• Maintain accurate planning information and ensure schedule data reflects actual site progress.
• Maintained mechanical Level 5 construction schedules.
• Weekly mechanical four-week lookahead plans.
• Mechanical inputs to the overall MEH 16-week lookahead.
• Accurate, evidence-based schedule progress updates.
• Installed and remaining quantity trackers.
• Planned versus actual quantity and productivity reports.

About The Role

Altrad are seeking an experienced and technically capable Mechanical Construction Planner to support the planning and delivery of mechanical construction activities within the MEH Alliance on Hinkley Point C.

The role will be responsible for developing and maintaining detailed mechanical Level 5 construction schedules and four-week lookahead plans. Working as part of the MEH Planning and Project Control function, the role will provide accurate, evidence-based progress information and support visibility of construction readiness, productivity, constraints and schedule risks.

The successful candidate will work closely with construction and delivery teams to integrate engineering, materials, access, resources, quality and commissioning requirements, ensuring planned activities are ready for execution and aligned with the wider MEH programme.
