Altrad are recruiting Welder Advanced for the Hinkley Point C project in Bridgwater, Somerset. This advert is for interest in future roles; 10:15-hour shifts on a 10/4 pattern; basic pay £29.34 per hour; lodge and travel paid where applicable.

Responsibilities include interpreting drawings, selecting equipment, and welding using MMA/TIG/MIG processes. You should have at least 3 years' welding experience plus recognised welding qualifications and safety competencies to join a major UK nuclear

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years' welding experience in a relevant industry.
• Welding apprenticeship or equivalent apprenticeship in welding.
• Level 2 or 3 Diploma in Welding or Fabrication.
• ACE Card in Welding Pipe or Plate and related qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Interpret drawings/specifications and determine welding requirements.
• Position and secure parts, select welding equipment and tips.
• Connect gas/wires, adjust controls for gas pressure, voltage, amperage.
• Preheat, weld, clean and visually inspect welds.
• Operate cranes and perform basic slinging safely.

Job description

About The Role

This advert is to register your interest for future Welder Advanced positions expected to become available at HPC.

Altrad are currently looking for an experienced Welders to join the team atHinkley Point C, Bridgwater, Somerset, United Kingdom for the upcoming project.

This role will involve working 10:15-hour shifts on a 10/4 shift pattern, with start date to be confirmed. The position is paid under ECSA agreements, with lodge and travel paid where applicable. Pay rate: £29.34 basic/h. Possible opportunity to work on a non-working day at OT rates. Overtime will not come into effect until your first full working week.

Key Accountabilities:

• To ascertain job requirements from drawings and/or other specifications.
• To position and secure parts to be welded, using jigs and fixtures as necessary.
• To select appropriate welding equipment such as gas torch, portable arc equipment, semi-automatic or automatic machine.
• To fit appropriate torch tips, electrodes, etc to equipment.
• To connect hoses to gas tanks or wires from power supply to electrode and work piece.
• To adjust controls to regulate gas pressure, voltage or amperage.
• To preheat parts to be welded.
• To clean and smooth weld and examine visually.
• To join metals by using the following welding process and equipment; manual metal-arc equipment, metal-arc gas shielded equipment, Tungsten-arc gas shielded equipment.
• To operate overhead crane and basic slinging in a safe manner.

Key Qualifications:

• A Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Welder in a relevant industry
• Welding apprenticeship or an equivalent apprenticeship in a Welding discipline
• Level 2 or Level 3 Diploma in Welding or Fabrication discipline
• ACE Card in Welding Pipe or Plate
• Chinese Diploma in Welding and Fabrication
• Turkish Steel Pipe Welding Vocational Qualification
• Turkish Level 3 Welder Card
• Indian ITI Certificate in Pipe Welding
• South African Trade Certificate
• BS EN ISO 9606 Coded Welding Qualification
• ECITB CCNSG Safety Passport
