Job summary

Altrad is seeking an experienced Mechanical Supervisor for the Hinkley Point C project in Bridgwater, Somerset. The role operates on a 10:45-hour shift pattern (10/4) with a start date to be confirmed and pay under ECSA agreements. Lodge and travel are paid where applicable.

Basic pay rate is £33.23 per hour, with OT rates on non-working days. OT applies after the first full week. The successful candidate will manage maintenance activities, ensure compliance with procedures and safety standards,

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years process plant experience.
• Strong supervisory and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance work and ensure adherence to procedures and drawings.
• Ensure working time regulations and site guidelines are followed.
• Coordinate permits, materials, tools and information before start of work.
• Maintain quality, productivity and safe working practices across teams.
• Support sub-contractors and undertake trade work when required.
• Report daily progress to planners and update SAP as needed.

About The Role

Altrad are currently looking for an experienced Mechanical Supervisors to join the team at Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater, Somerset, United Kingdom for the ongoing project.

This role will involve working 10:45-hour shifts on a 10/4 shift pattern, with start date to be confirmed. The position is paid under ECSA agreements, with lodge and travel paid where applicable. Pay rate: £33.23 basic/h. Possible opportunity to work on a non-working day at OT rates. Overtime will not come into effect until your first full working week.

Key Accountabilities

• To be fully aware of and use all job packs, procedures and specifications relating to the work in hand
• Ensure that the work has been carried out / completed correctly, to the procedures, standards, drawings and specifications
• Ensure adherence to the Working Time Regulations / site guidelines
• Ensure daily allocation sheets are correctly completed accurately and in a timely manner
• Ensure full compliance to site / company quality procedures
• Make sure that all necessary Alliance Company support, permits, materials, tools, equipment and information are available prior to commence of work
• Ensure the required standard of workmanship and productivity is achieved
• Review and update job packs / technical information as required to ensure increased safety and productivity
• Ensure that activities are carried out in a the most productive manner
• Identify rework situations to Trade Coordinator
• Identify all productivity and development issues to the Trade Coordinator
• Ensure the optimum utilisation of working hours
• Accept permits as required, on behalf of trade teams, and ensure full understanding by all team members involved in the task prior to commencement of work
• Support and supervisor sub-contractor activities as required
• Undertake trade work as required
• Report daily the progress of the work to the Reliability Planner and update SAP as required

• Ensure that the work is carried out in the most productive and cost-effective manner
• Ensure site / plant priorities are addressed in a timely manner
• Maintain the highest standards of Health and Safety, Environmental Performance and Industrial Relations
• Ensure good 360-degree communications with trade teams
• Ensure performance and competency issues are highlighted / addressed
• Assist with the application of the disciplinary process as required
• Ensure development issues are highlighted
• Ensure individual pro-activity within team members
• Generate and maintain a culture of Continuous Improvement within team members
• Supervise team members in an effective and professional manner
• Ensure adherence to company / site procedures, work processes, drawings / specifications and work order requirements
• Ensure compliance to appropriate BS and EN standards
• Support company / site initiatives as required
• Approved apprenticeship
• Minimum 5 years process plant experience
• Demonstrate technical capability to supervise in a maintenance environment
• Basic computer skills
• One of the following: SMSTS, IOSH Managing Safely & CCNSG card, known as safety passport
