Job summary

B&M Retail Limited in Colchester is looking for a confident Retail Security Officer to safeguard people, products and store environments while delivering a welcoming customer experience. This full-time, permanent role includes daytime, evening and weekend shifts.

You’ll monitor the store, operate CCTV, support Health & Safety procedures and conduct investigations into stock loss, theft and fraud. You’ll engage with customers and colleagues to resolve situations calmly and effectively.

Qualifications

• Experience in security roles is not essential; key skills and behaviours are listed.
• Able to follow procedures and stay composed in challenging situations.
• Strong written and spoken communication skills.
• Confident handling difficult conversations in a professional manner.

Responsibilities

• Actively monitoring the store to identify, prevent and report incidents.
• Operating and reviewing CCTV systems in line with company policies.
• Supporting the enforcement of Health & Safety procedures.
• Conducting investigations into stock loss, theft and fraud.
• Engaging with customers and colleagues to resolve situations calmly and effectively.
