Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking a Retail Security Officer to protect customers, staff and stock within a store environment. The role requires flexibility to cover a 14:00–22:00 shift and other shifts as needed, with a professional security presence and strong reporting skills.

You will deter theft, monitor CCTV, patrol premises, assist customers, and escalate incidents to management. A valid SIA DS/Guarding license is essential, and the role demands excellent communication and a proactive approach

Qualifications

• Valid SIA License – Door Supervisor (DS) or Security Guarding.
• Strong observational skills to identify suspicious behaviour.
• Proven ability to handle difficult situations calmly and professionally.
• Excellent verbal and written communication for reporting and interactions.
• Proactive and professional approach to safety and security.

Responsibilities

• Act as a visible security presence in-store to deter theft and anti-social behaviour.
• Carry out regular patrols and monitor CCTV and security equipment.
• Respond to alarms/incidents promptly and liaise with management or police as needed.
• Complete detailed incident and observation reports with accuracy.
• Provide excellent customer service while ensuring safety and security.
• De-escalate confrontations calmly and professionally.
• Ensure compliance with site procedures, policies and legal requirements.
