Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking a Retail Security Officer based in Penrith to deter theft, protect colleagues and customers, and maintain a safe shopping environment. You will patrol, monitor CCTV, respond to incidents, and provide a approachable, professional presence on the shop floor.

The role requires a valid SIA Licence (Door Supervisor or Security Guarding), right to work in the UK, and flexibility to work weekends and bank holidays. DBS/BS7858 clearance may be required.

Qualifications

• Must have Right to Work in the UK and ability to obtain DBS and BS7858 clearance.
• Valid SIA Licence (Door Supervisor or Security Guarding) and relevant security experience.
• Strong observational skills to identify suspicious behaviour.
• Ability to handle difficult situations calmly and professionally.
• Excellent communication skills for reporting and interactions.
• Flexible to work varied shifts, including weekends and evenings.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a visible security presence and deter theft and anti-social behaviour.
• Patrol the store and monitor CCTV for suspicious activity.
• Respond to alarms and incidents, escalating where required.
• Conduct searches in line with company procedures when necessary.
• Complete accurate incident and observation reports.
• Work closely with store management and staff on security matters.
• Provide a professional and approachable presence to customers and staff.
• Assist customers and staff with queries and de-escalate conflicts calmly.
• Follow all site procedures, company policies and legal requirements.
