The Dragonfly Hotel Colchester is seeking an enthusiastic hospitality team member to join our Restaurant & Bar Team. If you love the buzz of service and delivering memorable guest experiences, this is ideal for you.

You will learn about food and drink, welcome guests, take orders, serve meals and beverages, handle payments, and help keep a smooth, lively service that reflects our Ownership with Personality values.

Qualifications

• Friendly, energetic approach to guest service.

• Good communication and ability to explain dishes.
• Willingness to learn menus and service standards.
• Availability for opening/closing shifts, weekends, bank holidays.

Responsibilities

• Take orders and serve food and drink to guests.
• Process payments and ensure guests have an excellent experience.
• Support the team to deliver great service and meet standards.
• Learn menus and confidently explain dishes to guests.
• Assist with coffee preparation and bar service as needed.
• Be flexible with shifts and help maintain a lively atmosphere.

How you'll bring the magic to the floor as part of our Restaurant & Bar Team:

• Has a positive, can‑do attitude towards customers and other team.
• A genuine enthusiasm for learning about all things food and drink — including spirits, wines, cocktails, and delivering the “perfect serve”.
• A willingness to understand different food styles and service standards, learn the menus, and confidently explain dishes to customers.
• Strong communication skills and enjoyment of interacting with guests in a lively, fast‑paced environment.
• The ability to deliver great service — taking orders, serving food and drink, processing payments, and ensuring every guest has an excellent experience.
• Commitment to meeting site service standards and working effectively as part of the team.
• A developing or good understanding of preparing coffees and serving alcohol and wine in both bar and restaurant settings.
• Availability to work opening and closing shifts, including weekends and bank holidays on a pro‑rata basis.
• A willingness to continue your development through in‑house and external training sessions.
