Job summary

North Northamptonshire Council is recruiting a Repairs Officer to oversee responsive repairs and maintenance across the housing portfolio. You will supervise trades operatives and contractors, perform pre and post inspections, and ensure works meet safety and compliance standards.

The role focuses on managing performance, maintaining compliance, and delivering excellent customer service within a 3-month initial contract, 37 hours per week, Inside IR35.

Qualifications

• Experience in repairs, maintenance, housing or construction services.
• Knowledge of responsive repairs, void management and contractor supervision.
• Understanding of health, safety legislation and compliance requirements.
• Experience managing operational teams and workloads.
• Strong communication, organisational and IT skills.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day repairs operations and responsive maintenance.
• Supervise in-house trades and external contractors.
• Carry out pre and post inspections and maintain records.
• Prepare specifications, reports and tender documentation.
• Monitor contractor performance, budgets and service delivery.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety, asbestos, gas, electrical and environmental legislation.
• Support staff management, development and performance monitoring.
