Our client, a world leader in the repair and overhaul of aircraft reversers and nacelles in the aerospace sector, is currently seeking a Repair Design Engineer to join their team.

Key skills required for this role

Important

Design experience to EASA/UKCAA Part 145 and Part 21 regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Work with the operational teams and mechanics on the shop floor assessing aircraft damage to determine structurally acceptable and cost-effective repair schemes for various aerospace component defects, including metallic and composite, to a standard that satisfies EASA/UKCAA requirements.
  2. Consult with OEMs, regulatory bodies, and vendors on technical issues.
  3. Identify and source materials as required.
  4. Provide support to the production workshops and other support departments on all technical issues.
  5. Carry out stress analysis in support of the repair approval process.
  6. Produce technical reports of modules/components as required by the customer.
  7. Provide full technical support to production teams using sound material and process knowledge.
  8. Provide input into the business for process and technological improvements.
  9. Carry out damage investigations and compile reports.
  10. Drive toward new repair procedures that will reduce costs and turn-times.
  11. Manage the introduction of new products.
  12. Attend and pass the Boeing Part 1 Structural Repair course, and any other relevant courses as needed.
Job Requirements:
  • Aerospace background with a minimum of an HNC or equivalent in an appropriate engineering discipline/degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering.
  • Understanding of EASA/UKCAA Part 145 and Part 21 regulations.
  • Experience within the aerospace industry and a repair design background.
  • Proven record of producing solutions to challenging engineering projects.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation from various sources and convert them for use within the business.
  • Proficiency in using drawing software such as CATIA, SolidWorks, AutoCAD.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work well in a busy environment.
  • Willingness to travel as required for business needs.
