Job summary

Pertemps North West and North Wales is recruiting a Field Sales Engineer on behalf of a specialist engineering business to strengthen customer relationships and drive UK sales growth. The role combines customer visits, technical discussions and proactive business development across encoder and automation technology markets.

You will manage your own schedule, travel to customer sites, and have potential international travel.

Qualifications

• Experience in field sales or engineering-focused commercial roles.
• Strong technical knowledge to understand customer requirements.
• Experience generating new business and managing accounts.
• Confident presenting products, discussing technical applications and negotiating with customers.

Responsibilities

• Field Sales: Plan and conduct customer visits across the UK to understand requirements, present products and develop commercial opportunities.
• New Business Generation: Identify prospective customers, make initial contact and develop opportunities through to successful sales.
• Account Management: Maintain regular contact with existing customers, strengthen relationships and identify opportunities to increase revenue.
• Reactivating Lapsed Accounts: Contact previous customers, understand their current needs and rebuild business relationships.
• Technical Consultations: Discuss customer applications, technical specifications and operational requirements to identify suitable products and solutions.
• Sales Negotiation: Prepare quotations, follow up on opportunities, negotiate terms and secure orders.
• Customer Support: Work with internal colleagues and technical specialists to answer queries and provide support.
• Territory Management: Manage diary, plan travel, and maintain an active pipeline of visits and opportunities.
• Industry Development: Stay updated with products, technologies, competitors and market opportunities.
