Job summary

Principle HR is hiring a Software Engineer- Applied AI for the UK, remote position. This hands-on role turns ambiguous problems into reliable, production-grade tools used by teams across the business.

You will join an applied AI data and tooling group building evaluation infrastructure and supporting AI features such as text summarisation and agentic editing. You will own multiple workstreams with strong production practices.

Qualifications

• 6+ years building production software as an engineer
• Proven track record owning products from problem to launch
• Strong skills in Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, C++
• Experience building or integrating APIs, backend services, data pipelines or full-stack products
• Strong product judgment and clear communication

Responsibilities

• Partner with users to understand problems before choosing a solution
• Design, build, test, launch and operate end-to-end internal products and data workflows
• Turn prototypes into reliable self-service tools
• Build evaluation loops for AI-powered and agentic workflows
• Apply production practices: testing, observability, actionable errors and safe failure handling
• Review outputs with AI tools like Claude Code and Codex
• Measure adoption, time saved and reduction in manual work
• Manage multiple workstreams with clear tradeoffs based on impact and complexity
