Job summary

Intec Select Limited is seeking a Contract Software Engineer (Applied AI) for a fully remote UK role lasting six months. The team builds internal AI tooling and evaluation infrastructure, moving workflows to self-service products.

• 6+ years building production software across APIs, backends, data systems or full-stack.
• Proven end-to-end ownership from problem to launch and iteration.
• Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, Java or similar.
• Strong written and verbal communication and product judgment.
• Experience with automated testing and observability.
• Comfortable with AI-assisted development and validation.

Responsibilities

• Build end-to-end internal products, integrations and data workflows.
• Turn prototypes into reusable capabilities.
• Design evaluation loops for AI-powered workflows.
• Apply production engineering practices: testing and observability.
• Collaborate with technical users and annotators to scope problems.

Contract Software Engineer (Applied AI) | Remote UK | 6 months

New contract opportunity with a global tech client, starting 7th December 2026. Fully remote in the UK, 9-6 hours. The team builds internal AI tooling and evaluation infrastructure, moving manual labeling and support workflows over to reliable self-service products.

Role and responsibilities

• Build end-to-end internal products, integrations and data workflows
• Turn prototypes and one-off solutions into reusable capabilities
• Design evaluation and feedback loops for AI-powered workflows
• Apply production engineering practices: testing, observability, safe failure handling
• Work with technical users and non-technical annotators to scope problems before choosing a solution
• Use AI coding tools such as Claude Code and Codex, reviewing and validating everything they generate
• Measure adoption, quality and time savedOwn and prioritise several workstreams, with documentation and clean handoff

Required skills

• 6+ years building production software (APIs, backend services, data systems or full-stack)
• Proven end-to-end ownership, from ambiguous problem through design, launch and iteration
• Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, Java or similar
• Strong product judgment and clear written and verbal communication
• Experience with automated testing and observability
• Comfortable using AI-assisted development and validating the output
