Job summary

Mercor is seeking researchers to tackle advanced physics problems in their subfield on a part-time, remote basis. You will select, solve, review, or audit research tasks, ensuring written reasoning is complete for verification by others.

A PhD in biophysics, statistical physics, applied mathematics, or a closely related field is required, with a verifiable publication record. Proficiency in LaTeX, Python, SymPy, and Jupyter is expected.

Qualifications

• PhD in biophysics, statistical physics, applied mathematics or a closely related field.
• Verifiable publication record with arXiv IDs or DOIs, ideally last five years.
• Excellent written reasoning and strong command of English (B2 or above).
• Experience with LaTeX, Python, SymPy and Jupyter for research and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Work on research-level physics problems in your subfield and contribute to problem creation.
• Solve, review, or audit completed work; provide clear, reproducible reasoning.
• Collaborate asynchronously with remote teams across subfields.
