Job summary

Obsidian is seeking researchers to tackle high-level physics problems in their own subfield. You will engage in solving, creating, reviewing, or auditing research tasks, with assignments matched to your publication record and expertise. This is a remote, asynchronous role with no fixed hours.

You will contribute written reasoning and detailed analyses, leveraging LaTeX, Python, SymPy and Jupyter in a flexible, project-based setup. Immediate start and weekly commitments are possible.

Qualifications

• PhD in statistical physics, mathematical physics or closely related field.
• Publication record with papers on a specific phenomenon in the listed areas.
• Verifiable publication record (3–5 papers, last 5 years preferred).
• Proficiency with LaTeX, Python, SymPy and Jupyter; VS Code familiarity a plus.
• English proficiency at B2 or above, including written reasoning.

Responsibilities

• Create problems, solve them, review completed work, or audit it in your subfield.
• Match your publications to one of the five listed research areas.
• Produce complete, verifiable work with clear reasoning for peer review.
