Job summary

Obsidian is seeking researchers to work on research-level physics problems in their subfield. Remote and asynchronous work with about 10 hours per week over 8 to 10 weeks, starting immediately. You will be matched to an area and contribute through rigorous reasoning and documentation.

Applicants should have a PhD in mathematical/ theoretical physics or mathematics, plus a verifiable publication record and proficiency in LaTeX, Python, SymPy and Jupyter. Compensation is $80 to $110 per hour.

Qualifications

• PhD in mathematical physics, theoretical physics or mathematics is required.
• Verifiable publication record with arXiv IDs or DOIs, preferably last 5 years.
• English at B2 or above, including written reasoning.
• Hands-on experience with LaTeX, Python, SymPy and Jupyter.

Responsibilities

• Work on research-level physics problems in your subfield, including creating problems, solving them, reviewing completed work, or auditing it.
• Provide written reasoning as part of every assignment, with mathematical rigor expected.
• Demonstrate publications related to at least one of the specified phenomena and methods.
