Job summary

Caliza is hiring a Payment Operations Engineer to serve as the technical point of contact for customers with payment problems across fiat rails and blockchain. You will trace payments end-to-end, respond to API queries, and collaborate with partner banks and engineers to resolve issues.

You’ll read logs, query databases, and decode bank messages while explaining findings clearly to customers. The role requires professional English and remote work across regions.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in a technical, customer-facing role at a fintech or payments company.
• Solid understanding of how payments work: statuses, settlements, cutoffs, finality, returns and recalls.
• Comfort reading JSON API requests, logs and webhooks.
• Working SQL, and some scripting in Python or similar.
• Hands-on experience using AI tools in daily work, with good judgment.
• Methodical approach to investigations: form hypotheses and verify.
• Clear, calm communication with customers, banks or engineers.
• High autonomy and comfort with ambiguity in a fast-moving remote startup.

Responsibilities

• Be the technical point of contact for customers with payment problems.
• Answer technical API questions from live customers (failed webhooks, error codes, statuses).
• Trace payments across API, internal systems, ledger, partner banks, rails and blockchain.
• Explain findings to customers, push banks for answers, and hand precise issues to engineers.
• Follow payments end-to-end across rails and blockchain to understand outcomes.
