Job summary

Transak Inc. is seeking a senior engineer to own critical payment microservices end-to-end, designing and operating systems that move real money across currencies and jurisdictions. You will work across design, implementation, and deployment while collaborating with Risk, Compliance, and Ops teams.

The role emphasizes architecture decisions, mentoring engineers, and hands-on coding daily in a regulated payment landscape within AWS infrastructure and scalable microservices.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience in backend/distributed systems.
• Strong experience with Node.js (TypeScript preferred) for backend services.
• Deep expertise in MongoDB schema design, aggregation, indexing, and performance tuning.
• Proficiency with Redis for caching, distributed locks, rate limiting, and pub/sub.
• Experience designing and operating microservices architectures with REST/gRPC/event-driven patterns.
• Hands-on with CI/CD pipelines and Jenkins (pipeline-as-code).
• Working knowledge of AWS services (ECS/EKS/Lambda, S3, RDS, CloudWatch).
• Track record owning a service end-to-end including on-call responsibilities.
• Excellent written communication for design docs and RFCs.

Responsibilities

• Payment Systems Ownership & Architecture: design, build, deploy, and operate Node.js payment microservices at scale.
• Banking & Partner Integrations: drive integrations with banking, card, risk providers and reconciliation logic.
• Infrastructure, CI/CD & Operations: maintain CI/CD pipelines, operate AWS-based infra, and ensure reliability.
• Technical Leadership & Collaboration: drive roadmaps, mentor engineers, and uphold security/compliance.
