Octopus Energy Group seeks an Embedded Firmware Engineer specializing in IoT to build firmware for our next generation of Smart Home devices. Join a multi-disciplinary hardware team and drive firmware from requirements to field deployment, with majority remote work and occasional travel to London and Slough.

You will work on constrained MCUs with RTOS, MQTT/TLS networking, OTA updates, and security features, collaborating with platform and app teams to deliver high-quality code.

Qualificações

• Proficiency in C for real-time operation on microcontrollers and vendor APIs.
• RTOS experience, preferably FreeRTOS.
• Scripting languages (Python, Bash) and Git version control.
• Ability to read schematics and data sheets for debugging.
• Knowledge of serial protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, RS232, Modbus) and networking basics (MAC, IP, TCP, TLS, DHCP).
• IoT security technologies (secure boot, encrypted flash, TLS, PKI).
• Board bring-up, design validation, and debugging with JTAG/SWD.

Responsabilidades

• Write structured, testable firmware for Octopus' connected devices.
• Work with cross-functional teams on key IoT products.
• Own IoT features from requirements to delivery and maintenance.
• Manage tickets with hardware and software teams.
• Investigate bugs and implement new features with other teams.
• Participate in code reviews to maintain high standards.
• Adapt across projects to meet deadlines.
