Job summary

Octopus Energy Group is seeking an Embedded Firmware Engineer specializing in IoT to shape the software driving next‑gen Smart Home Wi‑Fi products. You will own firmware for energy‑saving devices, collaborating with hardware and software teams, from requirements to field deployment.

The role is primarily remote with occasional travel to London and Slough. You’ll work within a cross‑functional team on key products, delivering high quality, maintainable code and enabling robust IoT solutions.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
• Proficiency in C for real-time operation on constrained MCUs.
• Experience with FreeRTOS or similar RTOS.
• Reading schematics and data sheets for debugging.

Responsibilities

• Write well structured, testable, efficient and maintainable software for Octopus' connected devices.
• Take ownership of IoT products and features, delivering high quality code.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on key customer/internal products.
• Manage tickets and development efforts with hardware and software teams.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure high standards.
