Job summary

Ring is seeking a firmware engineer in Cambridge to own firmware components end to end for battery-powered and wired IoT devices. You will design, implement, review, test and maintain firmware across product generations, in collaboration with hardware, cloud, and mobile teams.

You will work on designing interfaces, debugging across the full stack, and contributing to CI pipelines and automated test infrastructure in a hands-on role that ships to customers worldwide.

Qualifications

• Professional software development experience (non-internship).
• Experience with an RTOS in a production environment.
• Experience with embedded testing and CI pipelines targeting embedded hardware.
• Experience owning a software component end to end, from design through to delivery and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement firmware for battery-powered and wired IoT devices running on microcontrollers and RTOS environments.
• Own components end to end: design, implementation, code review, testing, and maintenance across product generations.
• Define and implement software interfaces consumed by other teams and services.
• Debug and resolve issues across the full stack, from hardware bring-up through to production defects in the field.
• Contribute to and maintain CI pipelines, build systems, and automated test infrastructure.
• Work closely with hardware engineers, cloud engineers, and product managers to translate requirements into reliable firmware.
