Job summary

Cambridge Spark is seeking a Fractional CISO to provide senior, independent security strategy and governance on a remote, contract-based engagement. You will define the overarching security direction, with execution carried out by the internal IT & Systems Manager, ensuring proper separation of control definition and operational delivery.

You will drive a costed security roadmap, risk register, and board reporting while advising on certification direction and an incident framework.

Responsibilities

• Define a clear, costed security strategy and sequenced improvement roadmap tailored to the evolving estate, threat landscape, and risk appetite.
• Architect a security-specific risk register and conduct regular, independent reviews of the control environment operated by the internal IT team.
• Deliver periodic board-level reporting on organisational risk.
• Provide formal guidance on whether to pursue ISO 27001 or Cyber Essentials Plus with an ISMS.
