Job summary

Arden University is seeking a Data Governance Specialist to lead the governance program across the Technology Department. You will drive data quality, metadata management and lineage, ensuring trusted data for decision-making while collaborating with Data Protection and Information Security teams.

You will manage and grow a team of Data Quality Analysts, promoting continuous improvement and strong stakeholder engagement across the university. This is a remote UK role with minimal travel.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in data governance, data management or related discipline with governance implementation.
• Experience implementing data governance platforms such as Microsoft Purview.
• Strong understanding of data quality, metadata management and governance best practice.
• Knowledge of Master Data Management and governance principles.
• Excellent understanding of GDPR, DPA 2018, EU AI Act and AI governance requirements.
• Experience using process mapping tools (e.g., Lucid) to document and improve processes.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with ability to translate data into insights.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Proven ability to lead, develop and motivate teams.
