Job summary

Olive Jar Digital Ltd seeks an experienced Data Governance Manager to support a major public sector data transformation programme. The role focuses on embedding governance, stewardship, and ethical data practices across a large organisation.

You will operate autonomously, influence senior stakeholders, and lead strategic initiatives, partnering with enterprise and local implementation teams to deliver governance objectives.

Qualifications

• Proven experience designing, implementing, or enhancing Data Governance Frameworks within large organisations.
• Strong understanding of data lifecycle, data quality, metadata and compliance requirements.
• Experience embedding data stewardship and ownership models across business and technical teams.
• Expertise in data ethics, including policies, impact assessments and governance processes.
• Strong stakeholder management with ability to influence senior leaders and boards.
• Experience delivering governance initiatives across multiple workstreams and functions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to translate governance concepts into guidance.

Responsibilities

• Drive accountability for data management across the full data lifecycle.
• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of Data Governance Frameworks.
• Embed ownership and stewardship practices across business and technical communities.
• Deliver core governance capabilities aligned with data strategy objectives.
• Lead federated governance across multiple teams and areas.
• Identify governance gaps and advocate improvements to senior stakeholders.
• Provide regular reporting, insights, and recommendations to leadership.
