Job summary

Fanvue is seeking an Assistant Accountant to own the ledger, month-end close, and related admin for a fast-growing fintech platform. You will supervise outsourced bookkeepers, ensure accurate coding, and drive clean reconciliations across GBP, USD and EUR accounts.

The role covers UK VAT, intercompany balance maintenance, payroll/pension reconciliations, and year-end schedules while providing a pathway to growth within the finance team.

Qualifications

• 2 to 4 years in a finance team or accounting practice, with at least one month-end close owned end to end.
• AAT qualified, or studying towards or part-qualified in ACCA, CIMA or ACA. We'll support your studies
• Confident in Xero or similar cloud accounting software, and comfortable with large data sets in Excel or Google Sheets
• Experience with multi-currency reconciliations and high transaction volumes
• Clear, friendly written communication. You'll chase people across the company and keep it pleasant
• Fintech, marketplace or payments experience is a strong plus

Responsibilities

• Review and own the ledger in Xero and reconcile supplier bills and daily bank activity across GBP, USD, EUR
• Prepare month-end journals, accruals and prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations to close by day 5
• Maintain intercompany reconciliations with US entity
• Reconcile payroll and pension control accounts monthly
• Prepare UK VAT return for review
• Coordinate year-end schedules and respond to external auditors
• Process invoices, chase receipts, and keep supplier records clean
• Request receipts for card spend and ensure receipt compliance
• Verify supplier bank details before payment
• Be the first finance contact for the wider team
