Job summary

High Life Highland seeks a Relief Mobile Library Assistant/Driver to support the mobile service across the Skye and Lochalsh area. You will drive a specially equipped van, circulate stock, assist customers, and help uphold safety and service quality.

This relief post covers for permanent staff during annual leave or sickness. You will participate in training and adhere to HLH policies, including GDPR and health and safety, with a focus on sustainable practices.

Responsibilities

• Actively promote a positive workplace culture that supports HLH values and improves morale, productivity and performance.
• Drive the specially equipped large mobile library van.
• Carry out day-to-day vehicle checks and report faults to the Fleet Operator.
• Ensure the vehicle is cleaned and washed inside and out.
• Promote the mobile service to the public.
• Circulate stock to the public including housebound, school and care home visits.
• Input, check and maintain database records.
• Handle customers’ requests and enquiries.
• Maintain stock including shelving, handling, processing and minor repairs.
• Cash handling and other duties associated with daily library operations.
• Assist with health and safety procedures.
• Engage in continuous professional development and contribute to service improvements.
• Assist and support other areas of HLH with projects or during holidays or sickness, cross-functionally across Libraries.
• Undertake tasks in line with HLH policies including GDPR and safety procedures.
