Job summary

High Life Highland is seeking a Library team member to promote and deliver library and information services across our network. You will run events for all ages, lead Bookbug sessions and support shelving, processing and repairs while assisting customers with resources and e-resources.

The role requires opening and closing duties, cash handling, and contributing to continuous improvement and sustainability within HLH. Training and cross-functional collaboration are encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Promote a positive, collaborative workplace culture to support HLH’s purpose of Making Life Better and the i-care values.
• Deliver, support and promote library and information services to all users.
• Run and assist with library events and promotions for all ages, including children, teenagers and adults.
• Lead Bookbug sessions for young children.
• Undertake library routines including shelving, processing and repairing stock.
• Input and check databases and maintain reservation systems.
• Handle cash transactions.
• Help customers make best use of library resources including e-resources.
• Open and close the library as required.
• Undertake any other duties to ensure efficient service delivery across the library network.
• Pursue continuous professional development and contribute to HLH’s improvement.
• Attend and undertake training online or in person.
• Aim to reduce wastage and uphold environmental sustainability in tasks.
• Assist and support other HLH areas on projects or during holidays/sickness, cross-functionally across the Library team.
• Maintain awareness of risk management responsibilities per HLH policies.

• Opening and closing of the library when required.
• Undertaking any other duties as required to ensure efficient and effective service delivery across the library network.
• Pursue continuous professional development and contribute to the continuous improvement of Library and High Life Highland as a whole.
• Attend and undertake any training online or in person.
• Aim to reduce wastage and uphold our environmental values of being as sustainable as possible in all tasks.
• Assist and support other areas of High Life Highland with particular projects, training or in the event of holidays or sickness working cross-functionally across the Library team.
• Maintain an awareness and knowledge of the risk management responsibilities appropriate to their role, as identified within the HLH Risk Policy and associated guidance documentation.
