Job summary

High Life Highland is seeking a relief driver to operate the Skye and Lochalsh Mobile Library on a 3-week cycle from Ardelve Depot. The post is not suitable for homeworking and involves driving a specially equipped van across the Halkirk area to promote library services.

Responsibilities include stock circulation, customer enquiries, database updates, health and safety duties and training participation. PVG disclosure and a pre-employment medical are required.

Qualifications

• All candidates must meet HLH safeguarding and PVG requirements.
• All candidates subject to a medical prior to appointment.

Responsibilities

• Drive a specially equipped mobile library van.
• Carry out routine vehicle checks and report faults as necessary.
• Promote the mobile library service to the public.
• Circulate stock to the public and within the library network.
• Input, check and maintain database records.
• Handle customers’ requests and enquiries.
• Stock maintenance, including shelving, handling, processing and minor repairs.
• Assist with Health and Safety procedures.
• Engage in continuous professional development and contribute to service improvements.
• Attend relevant training, online or in person.
• Support sustainable working practices and HLH environmental values.
• Undertake cross-functional support across the Libraries team.
