Job summary

Hampshire County Council is seeking a Registered Manager for a trauma-informed residential children’s home in Hampshire. You will oversee daily operations, lead the care team and collaborate with multi‑agency partners to deliver safe, nurturing support for children aged 10-17 who have experienced emotional trauma.

The role requires a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management in Residential Childcare, strong safeguarding experience and a proven leadership track record in residential settings.

Qualifications

• Must hold or be willing to work towards a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management in Residential Childcare and meet Ofsted registration requirements.
• Extensive management experience in residential care for vulnerable children with a track record of service improvement.
• Strong understanding of trauma-informed care and ability to build positive, supportive relationships with children.
• Significant safeguarding experience and ability to support children who have experienced trauma or abuse.
• Proven leadership skills, team development, and promoting a collaborative working environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, report writing, meetings and IT literacy.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the day-to-day running of the home and ensure it aligns with its Statement of Purpose and drives continuous improvement.
• Drive quality and compliance by meeting statutory, regulatory and health & safety requirements as the Responsible Person under relevant legislation.
• Champion child-centred practice by developing strong relationships with children and ensuring care plans are followed.
• Collaborate with families, professionals and external agencies to support positive outcomes for children.
• Develop and support staff by recruitment, training, supervision and performance management.
• Manage resources including budgets, staffing and equipment to ensure efficient and sustainable operation.
