Job summary

Skycare are recruiting experienced Registered Nurses for our Nursing Homes based in Birmingham, B28. We offer 36‑48 hour shifts, day, night, or long shifts with an hourly rate of £21.50 and paid breaks. A permanent full‑time contract is provided with enhancements on bank holidays and a supportive team environment.

Applicants must hold UK RGN, active NMC PIN, DBS clearance, and two references. Right to work in the UK is required; experience in care homes is desirable. Apply with an updated CV.

  • Clear DBS and 2 satisfactory references.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Experience in a nursing home is desirable.

  • Genuine interest in working within a care home setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records.
  • Administer nursing care to ill, injured, and long-term service users.
  • Be professional and discreet, in line with NMC Code.
  • Assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate interventions for complex needs.
  • Identify and manage treatment plans for residents as appropriate.
  • Prioritise health problems and intervene in emergencies.
  • Produce complete medical records in line with policies.
  • Support and guide junior staff and care workers on a daily basis.
  • Continual professional development to develop the role.

We are recruiting experienced Registered Nurses for our Nursing Homes based in Birmingham, B28.

We have 36‑48 hour shifts available day shifts, night shifts, 12‑hour shifts, 8am‑8pm.

Pay rate is £21.5 per hour.

Requirements for the role

  • Demonstrate an understanding and application of relevant legislation in relation to the role.

  • Proven experience in clinical settings is desirable.
  • Ability to communicate well at all levels is essential along with a flexible approach.

Working as an RGN Nurse (Registered General Nurse) means
  • Assess patient health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records. Administer nursing care to ill, injured, and long‑term service users.
  • Behave in a professional and discreet manner at all times and in line with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code.
  • Be competent and confident in managing people with long‑term health conditions.
  • Assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate interventions/treatments for service users with complex needs.
  • Proactively identify, diagnose and manage treatment plans for service users (as appropriate).
  • Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist service users in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care.
  • Recognise and work within your own competence level.
  • Produce accurate, contemporaneous and complete records of service user interaction and consultation, consistent with legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Support, manage and guide support workers on a daily basis.
  • Continual personal development to develop oneself and the role.
  • Administering medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  • Providing direct patient care including wound dressing, bathing, feeding and monitoring vital signs.
  • Documenting resident health status and maintaining accurate medical records.
  • Communicating with resident family members and the healthcare team about their condition and progress.
  • Providing emotional support and therapeutic communication to residents and their families.
  • Supervising and training nursing assistants and junior nursing staff.
  • Ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations, including sanitation and infection control.
  • Coordinating with other healthcare professionals, such as doctors, therapists, and dietitians.
