Registered Children's Home Manager

Location: Wolverhampton

Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Registered Children's Home Manager to lead the establishment and operation of a new children's home in Wolverhampton. This home will specialize in providing care for children with Emotional and Behavioral Difficulties (EBD). The successful candidate will be responsible for the registration, recruitment, and management of the home, ensuring that it provides a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for the children.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the registration process of the new children's home with Ofsted, ensuring all regulatory requirements are met.
  2. Lead the recruitment, selection, and training of a skilled and compassionate team, including care staff, administrative personnel, and support workers.
  3. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and standards to ensure the highest quality of care and compliance with all relevant legislation and guidelines.
  4. Manage the home’s budget, resources, and facilities to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  5. Ensure that the home provides a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for children with EBD, promoting their physical, emotional, and social development.
  6. Develop and maintain positive relationships with children, their families, and other stakeholders, including social workers, educational professionals, and health care providers.
  7. Lead by example, providing strong and inspirational leadership to the team, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  8. Ensure that all staff are fully aware of their responsibilities and are supported in their roles, providing regular supervision and performance reviews.
  9. Monitor and evaluate the quality of care provided, implementing improvements where necessary.
  10. Respond effectively to any incidents or complaints, ensuring that appropriate action is taken and that lessons are learned.
  11. Keep up to date with best practices in the care of children with EBD, and ensure that the home remains at the forefront of the sector.

Qualifications and Experience:
  1. Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
  2. Proven experience in managing a children’s home, preferably an EBD setting.
  3. Strong knowledge of Ofsted requirements and the regulatory framework for children’s homes.
  4. Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and motivate a team.
  5. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  6. A commitment to providing high-quality care and support to children with EBD.
  7. Ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
  8. Full UK driving license.
