We are looking to strengthen our Construction team with a Regional Construction Manager based within the United Utilities Region, working site-based across the United Utilities framework.
You will report directly to the Head of Construction and your role will lead and advise the site teams in the region on all construction matters. Provide adequate skilled resources for each project. Support the Operations Manager/Project Managers to ensure all SHEQ, construction programme, and budget requirements are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Discipline Lead for all Civils, Mechanical, and FRC/Temporary Works across every site within the region.
- Allocate senior site staff to sites to ensure they are adequately resourced for efficient resource management.
- Assess performance of individuals in terms of competency; provide assistance or disciplinary measures as necessary.
- Provide advice & guidance to Temporary Works Co-ordinators across the region (if qualified).
- Embed the IFE programme within the region and ensure its effective implementation.
- Regularly review Quality, Safety, and Environmental Policies/Procedures to ensure they remain fit for purpose.
- Contribute pre-construction and constructability input to all tenders.
- Maintain good PR and a positive company image through effective communication with clients, stakeholders, and the public.
- Demonstrate visible leadership across all sites, maintaining a high standard of safety and quality.
- Acquire and apply detailed knowledge in areas such as Asbestos Management, Construction Techniques, Lifting, Temporary Works, Excavations, and Process Safety to advise project staff.
- Engage with other regions to share information and innovations around project delivery.
- Challenge programme and productivity metrics during site visits, asking exploratory questions and assessing construction techniques.
- Manage control of multiple complex projects at various stages, adapting to scope changes or policy updates.
- Standardize working practices, safety, quality, time, and cost approaches across the region.
Skills and Experience:
Essential:
- SMSTS
- CSCS Level 6 Black Card
- Experience in Water/Wastewater Treatment Industry
- Temporary Works Co-ordinator
- EUSR SHEA Water Card
- EUSR National Water Hygiene (Blue) Card
- Degree or equivalent in construction discipline or extensive experience
- Client Passport (as required)
- Scaffold Inspection Certification
- First Aid at Work (3 days)
